About

Project Bootstrap is a project dedicated to making it easy to start new projects. This information is written with a slant toward software development projects, but most of what we have to say applies to almost any kind of project. Our intention is to list the tools, processes, common project roles, and beneficial activities that can contribute to running a successful project. We will also provide pointers to further documentation. Where applicable, we should create new projects (using Project Bootstrap methodology, of course!) to create tools to automate creating and maintaining Project Bootstrap projects.

One of the primary tenets of Project Bootstrap is not to obstruct progress! In that interest, if you see improvements or restructuring that needs to be done on any of the information you see here, you can sign in with the super-secret password "super-secret" and make the improvements. We make automatic backups every night of the contents, so people wanting to be nasty can only spoil at most one day of work. It is our intention at some point to move to a revision controlled wiki to alleviate such problems.

Project Bootstrap adopts a process based on Agile and Rational Unified Process, with some Getting Things Done thrown in. This is only one process choice of many available, but it has worked well for the Project Bootstrap team. We will try to mark sections that are of limited use to a non-software project appropriately.
